ORCID Publishes 2025 Annual Report

ORCID has published its 2025 Annual Report, marking the conclusion of the four-year strategic period 2022–2025 entitled From Vision to Value. The ORCID community now counts 1,492 member organizations in 192 countries and more than 10.6 million actively engaged researchers.

In 2025, ORCID expanded its Certified Service Providers (CSP) program to a total of 20 certified systems, introduced the new Featured Works functionality allowing researchers to highlight up to five key outputs at the top of their profile, and added 13 new work types aimed primarily at outputs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences — for example design, image, sound, and cartographic material. The new Editorial Service for Publishers feature was also launched, enabling publishers to add verified editorial service data directly to editors’ ORCID records — an important tool in the fight against predatory publishing practices. Concluding the strategic cycle, ORCID has prepared its new plan, ORCID 2030: Advancing the Future of Research, details of which will be shared during 2026.
