ORCID recently hosted a webinar with Dr. Pen-Yuan Hsing, a researcher and co-founder of the MammalWeb citizen science project, on how to turn your ORCID record into a trusted, automated researcher profile. Dr. Hsing compares an ORCID record to a digital business card and offers a practical strategy for setting it up in five minutes: write a short, roughly 100-word bio, manually add 2–3 key outputs and pin them as Featured Works, and verify your institutional email domain. He also recommends logging into your home institution’s research information system and granting it permission to update your record — this creates a so-called trust marker, a green checkmark confirming that the data was added directly by a trusted institution.
