The number of organizations using DataCite services increased by 194 over the past year to a total of 1,557 member organizations.

The registration agency also continued to collaborate with other projects and institutions supporting the development of services around persistent identifiers and open science that improve the functioning of the research ecosystem on a global scale, including: Research Organization Registry (ROR), Registry of Research Data Repositories (re3data), International Generic Sample Number (IGSN),Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo), Research Activity Identifier (RAiD), Make Data Count a Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure (POSI).

DataCite Annual Member Survey 2024

DataCite also published the results of a survey among its members on types of use and satisfaction with their services and demand for their development and improvement. For members who do want additional features/enhancements, most would like to see metadata enhancements. Requests in this area include integrating long-term preservation information, adapting schemas for different resource types, enhancing citation tracking, and improving metadata precision and completeness. Increased functionality in tools such as DataCite Fabrica and Commons, better interoperability with standards, and expanded API capabilities were also highlighted.
