ORCID Endorses the Barcelona Declaration

ORCID organization has decided to endorse the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information. This declaration, which has already gathered over 100 signatories and more than 40 supporters, advocates for a transparent, open, and sustainable infrastructure for research information.

The declaration is built on four key commitments: ensuring open access to research information, using systems that support openness, promoting sustainable infrastructure, and collaborating to accelerate the transition to open data. ORCID, as a non-profit organization providing infrastructure for connecting researchers with their outputs, recognizes the declaration as an essential framework for the transparent integration of academic systems and the broader support of open science.

ORCID’s endorsement of the Barcelona Declaration reinforces its long-standing commitment to managing open and trustworthy research data. ORCID enables researchers to manage their professional profiles, link them to their research outputs, and reduce the administrative burden of maintaining their records.
