From 2025 on, DataCite’s updated fee model for consortial use of DOI services will go into effect.
Until now, if an organization that was a member of a consortium registered more than 10,000 DOIs per year, it would be subject to an extra Membership Fee of €2,000. This fee has now been waived and the cost of registration between 10,000 and 100,000 DOIs per year for an organization will consist only of the standard DOI Fee of €2,500 for this quantity of DOIs attributed and a €500 Organizational Fee.
To ensure that the system is proportionately funded by its most demanding users, the Service Fees of consortium members that register over 100,000 DOIs annually will no longer count towards the Consortium Fee Cap.
