In February 2025, as the consortium lead of the ORCID National Centre, the National Library of Technology (NTK) participated in the ORCID Consortia Lead Workshop, held at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. Over an intensive one-and-a-half-day program, representatives from 15 countries shared their successes, challenges, and experiences while discussing the further development of open infrastructure.
The meeting was a great opportunity not only to exchange best practices but also to engage in deeper discussions on strategies for attracting new members, supporting integrations, and strengthening collaboration within the international ORCID community. Through these discussions, we gained valuable inspiration in areas such as member communication, improving newsletters, and onboarding processes. A key part of the program was the active involvement of consortia in ORCID’s strategic planning for the 2026–2029 cycle and reflection on crucial topics, such as the role of artificial intelligence in scholarly communication.
The Munich meeting clearly demonstrated the value of in-person gatherings in building a strong and connected community. NTK will continue interacting with other consortia leads within the framework of the ORCID Consortia Leads Working Group.
